White label 10mm Kapton Tape

Kapton Tape is a great tape to use in high temp situations as it will tend to hold on and not come off even at normal soldering temperatures. It's great to think about Kapton tape as a transparent, compliant piece of repair scotch tape. Allowing you to do some super cool things like.... tape down an iPad charging port and solder it without the tape coming off!

So you see, while many people like to use Kapton to shield off their work, in reality, they are creating an insulated area that will hold heat longer, in essence creating the problem they are trying to avoid.

If you are worried about overheating components, work on heatsinking as a crutch over Kapton taping. Nobody will judge you for using a coin or heatsink square but I will for sure judge you if I come around and catch you using Kapton in dumb ways.
